Next recipe- German Plum cake- made with fresh plums, sweet and tangy - goodness!


German plum cake
Grease the bottom of a square pan or pie pan.
Mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2cup butter, and 2T sugar with a fork or pastry blender or your fingers until crumbly.
Whisk 1egg yolk with 1 T cold water and add to crumbly mixture. Reserve 2T crumble. Refrigerate for 3 hours.

Cut 1 1/2lbs plums into quarters. Fill the top of the pastry mixture and crush. Sprinkle 1 cup sugar over the top and also sprinkle with cinnamon, dot with butter. Sprinkle reserved crumbs on the top. Bake @ 450 degrees for 10 minus and then lower the temp. To 350 and bake 30 minutes.

Fudge pudding cake- rich, gooey, serve hot or cold


Sift together:
1cup flour
2tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 T cocoa

Stir together:
1/2cup milk
2 T melted shortening
1tsp vanilla

Add together the wet and dry ingredients. If you like, you may mix in 1/2c chopped nuts.
Pour into a 9 inch greased pan.


Mix together: 3/4 cup brown sugar, 4 T cocoa.
Sprinkle on top of the batter in the pan.
Now, pour 1 3/4 cup hot water over the unbaked batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 20 minutes.

Soda cracker pie



Soda cracker pie is a summer dessert. It was always made with fresh peaches and topped with real whipped cream.

Soda Cracker Pie
3 egg whites
1cup sugar
14 soda crackers, rolled fine
1/2 cup pecans chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla
325 degrees for 1/2 hour
Beat egg whites till stiff.
Gradually add 1cup sugar. Add 1teaspoon vanilla. Roll 14 soda crackers fine. Add1/4 teaspoon baking powder and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Fold cracker mixture into egg white mixture. Spoon into pie pan and bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. When cool, top with fresh peeled and sliced peaches and top with whipped cream.
